Devon's 2nd Annual USED Toy Drive

Every Christmas season, we hear about many toy drives for kids!  People think that they are bringing a smile to a child's face, when in fact, the actions of buying a new toy are harming ecosystems around the globe.  Last year, Devon and I decided to do something about this!  We wanted to inspire people to realize that used toys are a resource that hasn't been tapped yet!  The carbon footprint of a used toy has already happened, so, by donating used toys we are able to put a smile onto a child's face without harming ecosystems!

This is how this year's event played out....

Devon's school has been sending out eblasts to all the parents!

The Byron United Church is also promoting this effort and they are

collecting toys at the church for us!!!!

We've had even more donations over the last few days and we were so busy organizing the toys that we didn't take any photos!

Today, Devon and I loaded our van to take all the toys to the Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre!  We actually filled our van!!!!  A nearby church (The Byron United Church) also helped to promote our effort and they agreed to be the collection depot for their members to drop off toys.

After we dropped off our first van load, we went to the church and with the help of Pastor Greg, we loaded a second van full of toys!!!!

Christmas Video

I've been teaching Devon how to play the ukulele! We've both been having a lot of fun with this instrument!  In another few weeks, Devon will be performing "Here Comes Santa Claus" at his music schools Winter Concert!

On the day we loaded our van with all of these toy donations, I had an idea...

I asked Devon if he thought it would be a cool idea to film us loading the van for part of a music video that I wanted to make to share his song with others.  He agreed!
